4. When do we collect your personal data?

This would apply where we have identified a potential claim, then we may contact you to advise you of how you might be able to benefit.

2. How do we protect your personal information?

We take the question of data security very seriously, as we know how much it matters to our clients.

We therefore treat your personal data with the greatest care, and take all appropriate measures to protect it.

6. What data do we collect from our website?

Our website uses traffic log cookies to help us improve your experience when using our website. A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers which is placed on your computer browser to allow us to simply track visitor usage of our website.

Furthermore, if you restrict our use of your data, or insist it is deleted before the claim is completed, this may well prevent us from obtaining a satisfactory outcome for you.

8. What do we use your personal data for?

These are the ways in which we use your personal data:

To allow us to present the strongest possible claim against the stockbroker or adviser, we require as much information from you as possible on the circumstances at the time of your investment. This will include copies of paperwork you have retained, and your personal statement of what you were told about the shares at the time.

This information will be used as the basis of your detailed claim, which will be filed with the Financial Ombudsman Service where the stockbroker or adviser is still trading, or directly with the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) via its secure online portal where the stockbroker or adviser has ceased to trade.

During the course of your claim, we may need to collect supporting evidence available from third parties. In these circumstances, you will need to provide us with specific written consent that we can make an information request on your behalf (such as a data subject access request), and that we can share proof of your identity as necessary with the third party, in order to obtain the information on your behalf.

After you claim has been concluded, we will retain your data for a period of 6 years. We do this in case your information is required after the completion of the claim. For example, if new documentary evidence or legal grounds come to light to further support your claim, it may be possible to appeal the original amount and obtain further compensation.

We may also need to share this information with our regulator the Financial Conduct Authority in the course of a routine audit, carried out from time on all regulated firms.

Whilst we hold your data, we may contact you on the grounds of legitimate interest should new developments arise that may affect you and we can advise you on how you might be able to benefit.
